Various aids may be given to you to enable you to meet the costs of tuition and school life.

Extraordinary bonus for the start of the school year in 2022

As part of a series of measures voted in the law on emergency measures for the protection of purchasing power and the amendment of the finance law 2022, it was decided that a The extraordinary back-to-school bonus will be paid on 15 September 2022 to the following persons:

  • Those that influence social minimums (for example: RSA, AAH, Aspa…), housing aid and scholarship students : this bonus will be €100 per family (+ €50 per child).
  • Those who are above the social minimum and who receive the activity bonus : an additional extraordinary payment is planned for the beginning of the school year in addition to the 4% increase in the activity bonus already made on 1er July.

If you are eligible for this incredible bonus, payment will be made automatically from the organization from which your social minimums depend (for example the family assistance fund or Pôle Emploi).

Back to School Allowance (Ars)

Accessible to all levels of education, the Back to School Allowance (Ars) is a grant paid by CAF or MSA. This financial assistance allows families with at least one child of school age 6 to 18 years old (for the beginning of the school year 2022, the child must be born between September 16, 2004 and December 31, 2016), to finance part of the expenses related to the beginning of the school year, such as the purchase of school supplies.

Ars is subject to a resource ceiling varies according to the number of dependent children. For the start of the 2022 school year, these are your resources 2020 which serve as a reference:

The amount of Ars depends on the age of the child and is for back to school 2022 from:

  • €376.98 (for children aged 6-10 years, born between 01/01/2012 and 31/12/2016)
  • €397.78 (for children aged 11-14, born between 01/01/2008 and 31/12/2011)
  • €411.56 (for children aged 15-18, born between 16/09/2004 and 31/12/2007).

Targeted support systems

Part of the aid is divided according to the level of education: primary, secondary or high school. This can be financial assistance at the national level (scholarships from colleges or high schools, bonuses, etc.) or local (within the Region or Department).

Registration assistance for a sporting activity

Are you a parent of a child or student and want to enroll them in a sports activity for the 2022-2023 season?

Know that you may be able to benefit from Sports permit ! This is a compensation €50 (per eligible child/young person) to fund all or part of a child/student’s enrollment at an eligible sports facility.

Tax credit for school fees for dependent children

As part of the family tax cuts, you can claim, under certain conditions, a reduction in income tax if your child attends college, high school or is pursuing higher education.

Tax credit for hiring a home-based employee

If you plan tohire a home tutor to help your children, know that you can take advantage of a tax credit for your teaching expenses.

The amount of the tax benefit is equal to 50% of the expenses incurred within the limit of €12,000, preferably adults. Note that online teaching courses are not eligible for this scheme.
