Hanoi National University (UNV) held a ceremony in the capital on November 18 to mark the prime minister’s decision to establish its 9th universitye Member – the University of Law.

During the ceremony, Minister of Education Nguyên Kim Son stressed that this is a special day and an important event for the Faculty of Law, which has now become the UNV University of Law.
He welcomed his birth, which is a recognition of the efforts of many generations of teachers and students over the past 46 years. The University of Law has recently embarked on a new development path with a new magnitude.
Minister Nguyên Kim Son wished the school to further promote its good traditions in education and research in order to shine even more in the future and contribute to the development of the legal framework.
For her part, the director of Lê Thi Quê Anh Law University says her upgrade is a valuable gift for all of her leaders, teachers and students. Not only does it meet the expectations of many generations of teachers and students, but it also helps perfect UNV’s development model.
It will help improve the quality of legal education and research in Vietnam and meet the requirements for high-quality human resources in the service of the process of international integration and national development.
According to the founding decision, the University of Law becomes a public university education institution, member of the VNU, which exercises its autonomy in accordance with the provisions of the law. It has its own legal status, seal and account and is under the direct management of UNV.
Improving the quality of legal education

On July 30, 1976, the Ministry of Higher Education and Vocational Training (now the Ministry of Education and Training) issued a resolution establishing the Faculty of Law (predecessor to the Faculty of UNV Law), Vietnam’s first law school.
Since 2000, the Faculty of Law has been a teaching and research unit in the field of law, which has its own seal and account dependent on the VNU, with the aim of developing into a university.
In more than 46 years of development, the Law University has gradually confirmed its position and role as one of the centers of scholarly research, training of highly qualified legal human resources, legal policy advice for the country, as well as a major jurisprudence research center of Vietnamese jurisprudence.
The school currently offers four bachelor’s, nine research master’s, five practice-oriented and six doctoral programs. For this 2022 school year, it has 3,228 students, including 726 in masters and 53 in doctoral studies.
The institution currently has 127 civil servants, including 78 teachers. With 70 doctoral students and 24 professors and associate professors, it is one of the legal schools with the largest contingent of doctors, professors and associate professors.
In addition, it has a team of more than 200 part-time professors and senior staff who are leading experts in the fields of jurisprudence employed in agencies of the National Assembly, government, courts, prosecutors, NGOs, professional associations, national and foreign institutes for education and scientific research.
The institution is also among the UNV members with excellence in scientific research. The institution has also made many notable achievements in national cooperation. She is co-founder and co-director of the Vietnam Law Schools Network.
At the ceremony, UNV published the decisions appointing the head of the law school. Lê Thi Quê Anh is the director and Trinh Tiên Viêt and Nguyên Trong Diêp are her assistants.
