Studi turns into the brand new market chief in on-line coaching

Studi has been a specialist in e-learning for twenty years and a digital pioneer. Edtech Division of Galileo Global Education, Studi employs 750 people, 700 freelance teachers and trains around 70,000 apprentices with state-approved training.

Meeting with its co-founder and CEO, Pierre Charvet.

The Studi Group reports a record turnover of 120 M€ compared to 20 M€ two years ago! How do you explain this growth dynamic?

For twenty years, Studi has been innovating to offer the best in online education. We are also officially the French number 1 in online diploma training. We are fortunate to have created an impact company whose mission is to support the largest possible number of people in their professional development or revolution. Our strength is today to have a catalog of 200 training courses ranging from CAP to Bac+5 and to offer prices accessible to as many people as possible.

What is the impact of the health crisis on your company?

The health crisis has global implications for digitization and distance. Structures like ours, which are specialized in digital, were more than required. Indeed, the crisis that has shaken the socio-economic landscape and the organization of work has accelerated awareness of the possibilities of retraining. Training is no longer an option reserved for a minority, it is becoming universal throughout working life.

What is the core target group of Studi?

Mainly wealth. The average age is 30, but we have learners in their 20s. Or more than 70 years! Studi accompanies them, follows them, the coaches, depending on availability.

At the same time, Studi pays a lot of attention to job seekers to help them get ahead. There is a very strong societal problem here. We have also received two public contracts: the national Pôle emploi contract and a distance training contract for the Ile de France region. We train more than 6,000 job seekers in the professions of today and tomorrow. The results are convincing: 70% of the jobseekers who graduated thanks to our training (Studi Ed. survey) state that they have found a job.

Their already extensive catalog covers 14 sectors. Are you considering further training to reach an even wider audience?

Yes, we are starting training in three new areas: design, sports and tourism and, at the end of the year, gaming. We are also strengthening our current topics in business and HR with even more Bac + 2 and Bac + 3 training, our core target group.

How is your relocation project going, aiming to bring all Montpellier employees (currently 500) together in one location?

We will inaugurate the first stone of the Studio Center that will open in March 2023 in the town of Pérols, in the metropolis of Montpellier. The nearly 10,000m2 building will bring together employees currently spread across 11 locations! It will be a great tool, perfectly adapted to new hybrid working methods and designed to best serve our hundreds of flexible office workers.

They have used training for the French but also for the French-speaking market, especially in Africa…

Yes, earlier this year we successfully launched ISM Online, the first online business school in Senegal. We register 500 learners there who take part in accredited Bac+3 and Bac+5 courses. The next step will be to offer our African neighbors a wide public offer at an affordable price in sectors such as finance, accounting, management, management or trade to meet their expectations in terms of skills development and growth needs.

Do you have ambitions in the European market?

This is the next step planned for 2022. In the coming weeks we will start producing our first content in English. We will initially offer an offer with international Bachelors and MBAs.

Two years ago you bought Elephorm, a website specializing in video training. Do you have any other acquisition projects?

We have just joined Health Events, a high-performance structure that trains medical and paramedical professionals (doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, pharmacists, etc.) online. We are constantly looking for acquisition opportunities, especially internationally and especially in southern Europe.

What are your prospects for recruitment?

We are constantly recruiting. Studi currently has 750 permanent employees and just as many freelance trainers. We offer great careers to the talent that comes to us. Our basis of values and skills is linked to Studi’s DNA: cosmopolitanism, curiosity, energy, and a sense of service. By next year we will hire 250 employees. Then Studi will exceed the mark of 1,000 employees. The same goes for coaches: we have an active policy of recruiting consultants. With triple digit growth, it is a great adventure that we propose, especially as we aim to become European leader within four years and reach 500 million euros in sales.
