The UJM joins the European College Transform4Europe

On the occasion of its “Executive Board” meeting on November 9, 2022 in Saarbrücken (Germany), the European University Transform4Europe formalized its expansion with the accession of the Université Jean Monnet Saint-Étienne (UJM), which integrates the consortium as a full member, alongside the Catholic one University of Portugal, University of Primorska in Slovenia. The Mariupol State University in Ukraine is also welcomed as an associated institution.
By joining Transform4Europe, the UJM is reaffirming its European dimension and paving the way for new sustainable cooperation in education and research.

Transform4Europewhich is part of the second wave of European universities to be labeled in 2020, initially comprises 7 members : Saarland University in Germany (coordinating institution), Silesian University in Katowice (Poland), University of Alicante (Spain), University of Trieste (Italy), University of Sofia “St. Kliment Ohridski” (Bulgaria), Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas (Lithuania) and the Estonian Academy of Arts in Tallinn.

The extension of Transform4Europe falls under the European Commission’s fourth call for proposals in support of European university alliances. The project, submitted in January 2023 by the Transform4Europe consortium, envisages, beyond the integration of new entities, the creation of a new organization and the intensification of cooperation between members around common goals.

The European University Transform4Europe aims to the development of institutional and strategic cooperation in education and research based on shared values ​​and principles. Jean Monnet University’s commitment as a full member of the European University Transform4Europe is part of its history and will enable consolidation its European and international dimension, already established. In fact, UJM is now among the top 10 European universities coordinating Erasmus Mundus Masters and 3rd in France (source The European Executive Agency for Education and Culture – EACEA). It has extensive experience in supporting or participating in European and international projects in education and research.

In addition to the expected development of European mobility, multilingualism and joint training, their active participation in Transform4Europe will allow the UJM to develop lasting institutional partnerships with multidisciplinary universities with which the UJM shares common characteristics and ambitions, but also a certain notion of the role of universities and their relationship with the territories and all socio-economic, cultural and artistic circles which is already part of his strategy.
