This is the ambition of Angélique Gérard, special adviser to Xavier Niel, founder of Free, and president of the new Sistemic project, the contraction of “Sister” and “Stem” for science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Angélique Gérard has been a businesswoman in the very masculine world of telecommunications for twenty years and wants to encourage young girls to start scientific studies. Sistemic is launching a call for applications this Monday, July 18th to give approximately 8 students the opportunity to receive a scholarship.

Candidates can post a video on Youtube

IT, aeronautics, biotechnology… The field of possibilities is huge. Young women must be between the ages of 17 and 25 to participate. You are invited to apply on the dedicated Sistemic website by answering 40 questions about your situation, background and motivation. “You can also post a video on YouTube, no longer than 3 or 4 minutes, to explain your link to ‘tribe’ as part of your studies or extracurricular activities and send us the link.”, specifies Angélique Gérard. For example, this could be a robot demonstration, the topic of a biology paper, or a space-related presentation. In a second step, a cover letter is requested. The application deadline is December 10, 2022.

A scholarship of 5000 to 8000 euros

Each selected student receives a grant of 5,000 to 8,000 euros. But also unlimited access to the Sistemic platform, which aims to provide content such as podcasts, articles or MOOCs (Massive Open Online Course) on various topics such as boldness, confidence, agility, adaptability or humor. These grants are funded by partners including Natixis and Inetum.

In February 2023 during a Sistemic forum dedicated to study “Stem” organized in Paris, the names of the scholarship holders for the following academic year 2023-2024 will be announced. If, by the time the results are announced, the candidates have received a refusal to admit them to the desired establishments, other names will be chosen, specifies Angélique Gérard.
